Will linux run on netbooks?
Are netbooks good for moms?
My brother and I would like to get our mother 57 years old a laptop for her coming birthday. She is in charge of music at her church, and has expressed that she would like to be able to bring along whatever music files not mp3, but printed music files with her so she can change things if she needs to. We don't think she needs that much disk space all she really uses her computer for is the music thing, the occasional Word or Excel document or spreadsheet, internet, and some very basic games that she likes to play.We wanted to get her a netbook, because a it would be easier for her to haul back and forth, b she'd probably think it was really cute, and c it's cheap, and we figure it was probably all the space that she'll need. The problem is...her eyesight isn't great. I don't mean she's going blind, but she has the typical 57 year old need for reading glasses and to blow up documents and web pages to read them better. I'm just worried that on such a small screen, she would only be getting a little bit of each page.So what do you think? Is anyone older here who has experiences with netbooks? Are there any with slightly larger screens?
Does daemon tools lite work with windows 7 starter on netbooks?
I was thinking of buying a netbook with windows 7 starter. Before I buy, I wanted to know if anyone has gotten daemon tools lite to work with windows 7 starter since windows 7 starter does not support dvd playback. I'm sure you can upgrade to windows 7 home and it would work but I'd rather save the money.

Whats your opinion on having netbooks in middle schools?
Ok, so this year at school, my classmates and I are each getting a netbook to do schoolwork. We'll be allowed to take it home, and it would basically be like renting a laptop for the year. In a few years, they plan on having not only assignments but the textbook chapters on the netbook as well.So i have two different questions. 1. Whats your opinion on kids as young as 11 having laptops in school to do homework on? 2. Do u know any other info on netbooks besides that they're mini laptops, such as storage space, internet connection, wi fi connections? Plz tell me in your answer if you do. Thanks.
Why dont netbooks come with a cd-rw drive?
How do you like your own netbooks?
Hey It seems that netbooks are getting a lot of criticism. People say thing like, " Nowadays you can get a fully powered, full size laptop for about the same as a netbook." While this may be true, people forget to realize that in some cases, the light weight and long lasting battery of a netbook may prove to be more useful than a laptop in many cases. Much of the criticism on the netbook is not even relevant to a bad quality product but rather, it's stuff like that it can't run photoshop or high quality videos which just takes away from it's essential use. The whole damn point of a netbook is for internet surfing, writing documents, e mails, basic youtube videos, Google searches, and some games. So why do people criticize net books because they are underpowered when that's the whole point of it? I've seen questions on Y A's of people asking if a netbook are good for school when they clearly implied that all they want to do is take notes and surf the web and go on facebook. So why did people all of a sudden start criticizing it that it's underpowered? That's the whole point it HAS to be underpowered in order to have long enduring battery as well as small size weight. Oh, and why do people recommend laptops more for school when they weigh about 5Ibs , have extremely low battery life can be as little as 2 hours , and can't do anything a netbook can't do that's essential for school? In my opinion, a netbook is much more ideal for a high school college student. Oh yeah and they're cheaper In most cases. So before I judge some people too harshly, can you give me your own experiences with you own netbooks?a How is the typing? It goes without saying that it isn't as good as a laptop's, but if it's decent I don't mind. After all, I can type pretty accurately on a phone.b How is it on the go and for school?c Do you find the internet connection good?d Is it long lasting and self sufficient? So, I'm planning on getting a netbook myself personally, but obviously if you guys don't have good experiences with it I won't get it. Please answer, and thank you all
What is the difference between Toshiba model NB205 & NB255 netbooks?
Can someone please explain how internet works for netbooks?
I am looking into purchasing a netbook for minor websurfing, school work, occassional bills, etc...and need to have access to the internet. However when I started researching how the connectivity would work, my mind started overloading with all of the very confusing details I just have a few questions that need some simple clarification so here goes...1. I already have Verizon High Speed Internet for my desktop through a modem , if I keep this internet service, will I be able to connect my netbook to it at home, will I be able to receive internet access?2. Verizon representatives told me that I am able to purchase a Netbook with internet access on the computer for about $60 a month. Supposedly you are allowed to use 5GB per month of internet access which they say is about 8 hrs day , however I notice that it breaks down the usage based on what you do. Does that mean if I just wanted to write a paper, or not access the internet, will it still cut into my 5GB monthly access, or is it just when I connect to the internet?3. I thought about buying a Smartphone, with capabilities to connect to a netbook, and I do know that you have to pay for some tethering charges or something like that? How would that work? Is it cheaper? If I choose an unlimited data plan, with internet access, would I be able to connect it to the netbook and still have unlimited access?Sorry I know its a lot of questions, but I am going to be starting school again really soon, and need to get netbook ASAP Any information will be helpful. Thanks
