1) usually not 2) I like Acer Aspire. YMMV. 3) $250 to $450 USD 4) No computer comes with a full and free version of MS Office which includes Word. Some come with a 60 day trial version. You can buy it here: office.microsoft.com/ en-us/ products/ FX101211561033.aspx Prices range from about $149.00 for the el cheapo "student " version to about $650.00 for the "Ultimate " version. Or you could use the open source, office suite called 'Open Office'. Open Office is 95% as good as Microsoft Office at 0% of the cost! Free from: openoffice.org/ 5) Exepting the lack of a CD/ DVD drive. it will do pretty much what any computer will do.... but will do it much much slower. Enjoy the new machine. |

They're called NetBooks, since they are meant to be used mainly for interNET (browser, e-mail, etc). 1) Not normally, though you may find a couple of models that do. 2) Lenovo, in my opinion, but HP has great models as well. 3) Depends, but expect to pay $300-$500, with quality being the MAIN difference 4) Normally, no. They have Windows Xp and that's it. I think Acer has a few NetBpooks with Windows Vista in them, but no licensing for MS Office. 5) Yes, just not as much at the same time. Think of the Netbook as a beetle, when other notebooks are sometimes like larger cars or even SUVs and Minivans. They'll take you pretty much everywhere, just in a smaller package and a bit slower than you may be used to. They compare in power to early 2000's machines... Hope this is helpful. |

Netbooks don't have cd/ dvd drives inside never. I recommend hp and dell, there are more, but these are the best. 200-500$ It can't replace an ordinary computer because it doesn't have a disc drive though, but if u don't need it the propably yeah. Sometimes it comes with ms word and that kinda stuff, but usually they don't add that kind of software to a netbook, because like the name says, it's for net, not for text editing, but u can still do it :) |

1) Not usually. 2) ANYTHING EXCEPT ACER ASPIRE. I went through two of them before getting my Dell Studio 17. The first one had the charger blow out and the second had keys pop off too easily. 3) $245-500 depending on brand and store 4) They usually come with a trial version, but there are product keys you can either buy or steal [not that I recommend the latter]. 5) Basically, but at a slower pace because of less RAM and less hard drive space. Don't expect to play Sims 2 on it or anything. Minis are a good way to start off on a low-ish budget but after two Acer Aspires, I generally wouldn't recommend them. Dell is a reliable company for minis (so I've seen), but the price is more on the higher side of what I specified. Again, it's better to check your local stores and shop around before making a final choice. Best of luck! |
